It is important for patients to have reasonable goals. Do not expect to be “cured” in one week. Micro Acupuncture™ is an effective treatment for vision loss, not a cure for any disease. Improvement in vision depends on many things: How long the patient has had a particular ailment, the degree of damage when treatments begin, the rate at which they are losing vision, and the rate at which they gain vision from treatments.
When vision loss is severe, it can take several weeks of treatments, sometimes as many as a hundred treatments, to recover vision to a significant degree. Patients with long term vision loss or eyes that have undergone multiple lasers or surgeries are sometimes limited to how much vision they can gain, often not enough for them to drive, read, or partake in activities that require the ability to see details. For patients in that situation, any gain at all is an achievement because in the absence of treatments they continue to lose vision, eventually going completely blind. They often state that they are happy to be maintaining what they have. They know that in the absence of treatment they could end up completely in the dark.
Occasionally patients report that they can see a little better during the first day of treatment. The vision becomes clearer, crisper, and color is enhanced. Many of the patients are able to have their driver’s licenses reinstated after being treated with Micro Acupuncture™, but this usually takes time, and is certainly not the case with all patients.
